In-class Critique: we will take a look at all the final posters. You will make any necessary FINAL edits in class. Once approved go to print -> DUE next week.
-> Title: Vote 2012 (your can tweak this to your poster needs)
-> Tagline: Should relate to your concept and be integrated into the poster design
-> Registration deadline: Voting registration deadline for New York State must be postmarked 25 days before the election (this can appear as fine print [10/11 point font] – at the bottom of your poster.

Please review the following list of books. I would like you to select a source book for which you will develop a cover design. All selected books are public domain titles and have text readily available on-line through multiple sources. - InDesign: setting up booklet. We will also discuss binding and paper considerations.
Here is an outline of what needs to go into your project deck and how it will be structured: GRA3611-FinalDeck - The deck will be created in InDesign. Dimensions and format recommendations are as follows:
-> 10 in x 8 in
-> Margin: 0.25 in (three sides)
-> Margin inside: 0.625 in
-> Bleed: 0.125 in
-> Gutter: 0.1667 in
-> Facing Pages: NO - The goal is to create an intelligent presentation to show off your work in a coherent and flattering manner.
- Here is also a website for downloading InDesgin templates: www.blurb.com. You have to sign up with the site in order to access the templates but they don’t require more than your email address. They can print your book for you, but you don’t have to use them. You can also choose to go with another printer.

1. Spiral bound (the advantage to this type is you don’t really have to worry about spreads and imposition.

2. Keep refining your moodboard -> the moodboard is a collage and must show evidence of historical research (even if you do not end up using in your final poster). It proves to me (your client) that you researched and understand the subject matter you are designing for. Your moodboard should help to define who your target audience is and what their life-style is like.
3. Assessment Worksheet – this was due last week. I must receive from everyone next class (you will loose points for handing in late, but better late than not at all). You can download worksheet here: ADV1162_AssessmentWorksheet

Hello,
Welcome to week 4.
Thank you for your taglines – some interesting ones. Be sure to read through them all – posted in Week 3 under comments.
In-class
Due Today (Monday 10.01):
1. Post 4 possible taglines to this blog.
2. From your tagline develop 3 pencil or ink sketches of a possible poster concept. Sketches MUST have a border around them.
3. Moodboard – keep in mind your moodboard should show evidence of your research. Your moodboard should define what a democracy is. I expect to see historical references relating to voting, freedom, government, independence…
Remember you should have a specific target audience in mind and you should be able to explain how your sketches address that target audience and encourage them to go out and vote.
Sketches go up on the wall at the beginning of class, although we will not be critiquing them as a class until next week. Today we will reviewing them individually.
