Week13 – ADV3662

Hello class,

Here is the tutorial for you to download that I gave in class last week relating to controlling sound externally in Flash: soundplayer (note: included is a basic tutorial as well as an advanced tutorial).

As I mentioned I will not be in class for the last two weeks of the semester because I am at the end of my pregnancy and the baby is due at any moment (!!).

So here are a few details about the next two weeks:

Week 14: On Monday (May 16th) Professor Goetz will be filling in for me. I would like each of you to present your site to her as well as to the entire class on the overhead projector. This will be a nice opportunity for you to show off your work as well as get some fresh perspective/ feedback on what you have worked so hard on all semester. I hope all of you contribute to each others crits, as each of you knows the particular challenges of the assignment: coming up with your own subject matter, researching and designing it, not to mention dealing with the functionality issues of Flash…

Please take careful note of the feedback you receive. Make a point of writing it down so you don’t risk forgetting the details.

You might also take a look at the final checklist with the grading requirements that I handed out a few weeks back: ADV3662-Checklist

Week 15: You then have one more week to make final edits and send me your updated links (May 23rd).

I will not require you to physically be in class for Week15. I would like you to go on a field trip to the Art Director’s Club. You can go on your own time at any point during the week. The exhibit I would like you to go see is the:
90th Annual Awards Exhibition
May 11 – 26, 2011
Gallery open Monday-Friday, 10am – 6pm.
ADC Gallery
106 West 29th Street, NYC
http://www.adcglobal.org/adc/events/calendar/

Note: if you can go on Thursday, May 19th, from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM you will be able to pick up free paper samples from their paper expo show the evening before.

When you email me your updated final link, I would also like you to cite one designer from the show that you really liked, and describe the piece they created – this will count as your attendance for week15.

Feel free to email me with any questions.
It’s very exciting to see your projects come to life. I’m sorry to miss out on the class critique. I really enjoyed the semester with you all.

Good luck with the last two weeks of the semester! And big congratulations to those of you who are graduating. Please stay in touch!
