Week9 – SpringBreak – ADV1162

On April 6, 2012, in Week9-SpringBreak, by Genevieve HItchings

Hi class – please read carefully!

As we move into spring break I want to send a reminder that a final printed draft of your poster is due on the Monday April 16th when we return. The posters will be submitted to the Grace Gallery competition and the deadline for that is very shortly thereafter. Please print a draft of your poster before class. I will ask you to make any necessary final edits in class and then have each of you print the final directly from the class printer.

I encourage you to email me any revised versions of your poster for additional feedback over spring break. We have been working on the poster for a number of weeks now, so I do expect your poster to reflect a significant amount of effort on your part. Because the file will likely be larger than you can send via email you can use either of the following free sites to send me your work:

www.yousendit.com
www.dropbox.com

Additional recommendations:
1. Make sure the poster fulfils it’s mission: to encourage people to vote
2. Make sure you include all the elements that have to appear on the poster:
-> Title: Vote 2012 (your can tweak this to your poster needs)
-> Tagline: Should relate to your concept and be integrated into the poster design
-> Registration deadline: Voting registration deadline for New York State must be postmarked 25 days before the election
-> AIGA branding bar (we will add this in the next class so leave space at the bottom of your poster for the bar)
3. Include margin and bleeds
4. Review the AIGA website to look at example of 2008 posters: http://www.aiga.org/get-out-the-vote-2008/
5. Review the self-evaluation worksheet and peer-evaluation worksheet handed out in class last week (posted under week9).
I will be collecting them.

Please email me if you have questions. Have a great spring break!
